Frontal Impact Dummy Models from FTSS

During the last years First Technology Safety Systems (FTSS) has intensified the efforts in developing the validated dummy models based on their physical anthropomorphic test devices (ATD). DYNAmore GmbH is distributor of these dummy models in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The following FTSS dummy models are commercially available.

FTSS - Hybrid III 50th percentile male

The HIII 50th percentile dummy is available as detailed and as corse model. The corse model is named "Express" model and allows to run occupant simulations with reasonably small amount of computational effort. The table below provides general information about the detailed version, the actual version v7.0 of the H350.

FTSS - Hybrid III 50th percentile male and Thor-Lx leg

The lower extremity used in Hybrid III dummy does not provide the desired range of motion or joint torque characteristics required to meet the new standards proposed by NHTSA in 1998. NHTSA developed an advanced lower extremity Thor-Lx leg. It's more human-like and meets the NHTSA specifications. For this actual version v1.0 of the model the Thor-Lx legs are integrated onto a standard h350 v5.0a dummy model.

FTSS - Hybrid III 95th percentile large male

The table below provides some general information about the actual version v2.5 of the H395.

Free Frontal Dummy Models from LSTC

The LSTC frontal impact occupant models are available in deformable and rigidized format. The models are recommended as loading devices to determine realistic loads in seat structures.

For positioning of the dummy a INGRID ".tree"-file is provided. An adapted version can be positioned with LS-PrePost or Primer. To predict the occupant injury risk in a front crash the models from FTSS are recommended.

LSTC - Hybrid III 5th, 50th and 95th deformable dummy models

The 5th and 95th percentile dummy models are scaled versions of the 50th percentile dummy model. free-dummy.jpg

LSTC - Hybrid III 5th, 50th and 95th rigidize dummy models

The 5th and 95th percentile dummy models are scaled versions of the 50th percentile dummy model. The models capture less details than the deformable models, in particular in the thorax area. Another difference is that many areas are not deformable. free-dummy_001.jpg
