Frontal Barrier Models

A range of LS-DYNA finite element models for frontal barriers have been developed by Oasys and Cellbond.

The DYNAmore GmbH is distributor of the listed barrier models in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The models are developed by Oasys (Ove Arup SYStems) and Cellbond Composites Ltd. The models have been developed to take advantage of the latest developments in the LS-DYNA code and are designed to provide a robust and efficient analysis model.

EEVC ODB Offset Deformable Barrier

This barrier is used in the EU front impact regulation and by several consumer test organizations such as EuroNCAP and IIHs in their front offset impact test. It consists of two different sized aluminium honeycomb blocks partially covered in aluminium sheets.

FWDB Full Width deformable barrier

This barrier is proposed by the Vehicle Crash Compatibility Project (VC-Compat) for frontal tests.

PDB Progressive Deformable Barrier

This barrier is proposed by the Vehicle Crash Compatibility Project (VC-Compat) as a replacement for the existing EEVC Offset Deformable barrier. There is also a proposal for this barrier to be mounted on a trolley (MPDB).
