Verification

The steady demand on predictive and accurate finite element simulations in particular in the prediction of material and total failure of a structure have raised the demand on a high model quality. Beside the current proceedings a trend on new extended material models and detailed process simulations, like including forming history in the crash simulation, can be observed to obtain a higher predictability.

The terms Verification and Validation are often used as synonyms for the extended effort involved to receive the high predictability. Additionally, robustness and probabilistic investigations help to increase the quality of the results and to estimate their uncertainties.
