Introduction Forming
This infoday is intended to familiarize you with the simulation of sheet-metal forming processes using LS-DYNA and eta/DYNAFORM. The eta/DYNAFORM program is a high-performance pre- and postprocessor specifically tailored to forming simulations. Along with the LS-DYNA solver, it forms a complete package that covers all forming simulation requirements.
Applications, such as the definition of initial sheet trimming, the generation of tooling geometries or spring-back compensation, are covered by the functionality of this software package as well as the definition of complete, multi-stage forming processes starting with blank positioning under the influence of gravity and all the way to spring-back simulation. Typical outcomes of simulation are metal thickness distributions, forming forces, spring-back value and direction or compensated tooling geometries and forecasts of the formation of cracks or wrinkles.
Content:
- Integration of forming simulation in the development cycle
- Process description
- Die addenda and preliminary simulation
- Blank trimming
- Analysis of simulations
- Spring-back simulation
The objective of this infoday is to give an introduction to forming simulation using LS-DYNA and eta/DYNAFORM. Insightful presentations based on hands-on experience will point out possibilities of how to integrate the simulation in the development cycle of components or tooling. This infoday is intended for interested tooling designers and method developers in the metal-forming industry who wish to obtain information on LS-DYNA and eta/DYNAFORM.
