Analysis of Hot Stamping Processes with LS-DYNA

In the recent past hot stamping simulation has established itself more and more within the press hardening community. However the requirements on a simulation software are continuously increasing due to an increasing complexity of the manufacturing processes. The focus in process simulation is not merely on the workpiece and its final properties, but also on the forming dies. To keep pace with all recent and even more with all future developments in press hardening LS-DYNA offers several features to deal with different aspects of press hardening processes. Nevertheless only a proper set of numerical parameters can make a simulation model an effective and efficient tool for a process designer. Based on recent experiences some useful parameter settings and modelling techniques are presented.
