DYNAmore Express: Overview on LS-TaSC and new features in version 4.1

LS-TaSC™ is a Topol­o­gy and Shape Com­pu­ta­tion tool. De­vel­oped for en­gi­neer­ing an­a­lysts who need to op­ti­mize struc­tures, LS-TaSC works with both the im­plic­it and ex­plic­it solvers of LS-DY­NA. LS-TaSC han­dles topol­o­gy op­ti­miza­tion of large non-lin­ear prob­lems, in­volv­ing dy­nam­ic loads and con­tact con­di­tions.

Version 4.1 is a minor release focusing on incorporating design for natural frequency using modern mathematical programming techniques. It contains the following features:

- Animations of the design iterations.
- Constraint bounds can be placed on a frequency. This is possible only for a single eigenvalue load case – full MDO will follow in a later release.
- Mode tracking for frequency constraints.
- Linear pentahedral and tetrahedral elements, as well as, the *CONSTRAINED_NODAL_RIGID_BODY keyword are supported for frequency design.
- User defined DSA for the global variables. This reduces the amount of FEA evaluation for constrained optimization. The user must be able to provide an estimate of the DSA values.
