14th European LS-DYNA Conference 2023: a unique event at the highest technical level

The who's who of the European, American and Asian CAE scene met in Baden-Baden, Germany on October 18 and 19 for first-class technical presentations on the finite element software LS-DYNA. More than 480 engineers and decision-makers exchanged views on current topics in the field of numerical simulation and discussed emerging trends and future challenges.

180 technical presentations and seven workshops in 9 parallel sessions, plus keynote talks by Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars, Toyota and Fraunhofer EMI, an accompanying exhibition with almost 30 international exhibitors, including companies such as AMD, Hewlett Packert and Arup. The numbers from this year's European LS-DYNA Conference prove the importance of the conference for the community.

"The fact that almost all CAE managers from European and Asian OEMs take two days to discuss future developments with us and inform themselves about current topics relating to LS-DYNA shows how important it is to organize regular conferences," says Uli Franz, Senior Director at Ansys and former Managing Director of DYNAmore GmbH. "We believe that it is absolutely necessary for the success of the software to continue this established event and, ideally, to expand it to Asia. This is the best way for us to meet the growing demand master upcoming challenges together with our customers," Franz continues.

The enormous number of presentations submitted to the LS-DYNA conference shows just how important it is to users. A look at the agenda reveals that experienced engineers from Audi, BMW, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Nio, Porsche, Stellantis and Mercedes-Benz are taking the time to prepare and present a presentation and a scientific paper. This engagement results from the technical focus of the conference. This technical focus is a unique characteristic that distinguishes the event from other conferences. The conference is attended by experts and specialists who are able to understand and develop highly complex topics. "The exchange with developers and users is essential for the software. Only by working closely together will we be able to develop LS-DYNA in such a way that future requirements can also be solved quickly and economically,” explains Dr. Tobias Erhart, LS-DYNA developer at DYNAmore.

For 2024, another International LS-DYNA Conference is already planned. In the fall, the community will meet again in Detroit, Michigan, to exchange ideas. In Germany, a one-day event is planned in the Stuttgart area. The next European LS-DYNA conference will then take place again in 2025.
