Verstärkung geschlossener Profile zur Verbesserung der Crasheigenschaften von Karosseriestrukturen
The reinforcements of door sills are investigated using both numerical simulations and structural tests. The examinations are based on a test configuration similar to the EuroNCAP pole test which allows to cover the effects of local reinforcements on the crash behaviour of the body in white. Component tests are carried out on a special test rig simulating the surrounding structure of the vehicle. As specimens closed steel profiles reinforced with polyurethane foam are used. A numerical model is verified in a corresponding scenario by using the finite element method. Finally the numerical model is implemented into a vehicle model and the effects of local reinforcements on the body in white behaviour are evaluated. These analyses proof a potential benefit of such measures.
